Its going to be interesting to see how many of what seems just like a few KPST supporters change their mind after KPST does release it and they get their copy. Many of them that have said they will buy it have based their decision on things they heard from other supporters and think that will be in the stuff pack before they really know whats really in it. I think some we see all hyped about it now will be posting complaints on release day, or they will just be quiet as it turns out its not the wonderful SP they are expecting.

Its was really surprising to see so many hard core Sims supporters, who buy anything sims, say 'no' to this SP from the time (and even before when they were judging on rumors) it was announced. They seem to have quickly see through what EA was doing and just could not deal with an SP that was in such a niche it was just not offering adjustable content.

I suspect EA was not 100% sure of this idea and that's why they thought an endorsement would be a great idea and now with the endorsement not going over well they have a 'super stuff pack' crammed with stuff players can easily make with just in game tools and call it a SP with new contents then we have ever seen. EA may have had a dumb idea but now they are treating us like we are dumb.

Extra content like a few community lots. So they build a couple of community lots, try and sell them as 'venues' while we all know they can't be based on more then the base game so a SP can work on all combinations of EPs and SPs or even if you have none of them, so they are not 'venues'. How many of you can build that same lot using whats in the game already (like substituting the original slip and slide for the candy one shown in KPST)? Probably anyone who has ever built a community lot before.

Extra content like wallpaper, while convincing supporters that they are getting 'new' pool tiles. Give anyone that makes wallpaper 10 minutes and they can make you pool tiles for free. Give anyone who has never styled wallpaper before a half an hour and they can do the same things

I started out being a bit interested in a 'super stuff pack' until I saw the price - 50% more is not just for content - and until I saw and heard about what some of this extra content is. Its one thing to get content that has new 3D models but I am not looking for stuff I can build in game - why pay for that? Not buying that extra content as worth 10 dollars. It in itself proves that most of that 10 dollars is the royalties to be paid to KP.

I have absolutely no use for Candy trees, cupcake bras and melted cookie hats in my game. I looked at the content. It has no appeal. If EA had given us a shop to sell sweets, if this had been to appeal to young Sims, children’s rooms, toddler and children clothes I may have considered it. But the fact that it revolves around Katy Perry and has not-so-children appropriate themes, I’d take cars over this any day.

Just like the Live Chat the comments and questions people make that are not 100% supportive will not even get through to the chat window from which the producers select their questions. If its not 'I love this or that!!' or 'what other cute stuff to show us?' it won't get past the chat censors.

The censors worked hard for the Live Chat because 600 viewers obviously did not only ask 3 questions or make 3 comments but that's all that could get past them for the producers to answer.

Tough questions did not get through, anyone asking those never saw them pop up in the chat window for the room. As a question or make a comment at the Producers Q&A that is not 100% supportive of this SP and you will see you chat post never shows up either. I don't think anyone is being fooled that the only things being said are all 'happy, happy'.

Sadly this has always been somewhat the case with these Live Chats and Producers Chats, they make sure every good comment or happy question gets through and when its negative its only 'kinda negative' and something they already planned to deal with in a 'happy, gushy' way to try and convince everyone that there are no negatives. But throw them a question they don't want to answer or a negative comment that your dead on about having seen through their marketing and it never shows up.

I simply asked whether some of the extra cost was because of KP's endorsement after she had been talking and talking about 'dozens and dozens' of extra content and it never got through - something they did not want to deal with obviously.

I know someone else who is upset that her question never made it either when she asked why things like lots and wallpaper and patterns were being counted as 'extra content' when they never had before. Of course they did not want to deal with the fact that they are stuffing this SP with things like this to make their content count higher then normally. The last thing they wanted people to know is if this was true.

As far as I am concerned the fact that the censors know ahead of time what they don't want to deal with means they had been reading this forum and knowing the negative comments they erase from FB and Twitter and know what to expect.

Go on after EA hours on FB and look at the negative comments coming in and then go back about 10 AM and they will all be gone. It does not disappear off your comments on your wall so its interesting to see negative comments from friends you have and then go to look at an answer on the Sims KPST FB page and its not there. They make it too obvious, better they leave the comment and ignore it instead of making people know its something they don't want the bosses to see on the FB page. Why is it suddenly your job to post both your own topic telling those with a less then positive view point to shut up and now jumping into less then positive threads to tell people they cannot post an opinion?

If someone thinks its a dumb idea then they have the right to say so. If you don't want to read about how they think its a dumb idea, don't read it but don't tell people that they don't have the right or reason to post about it.

And these posts have little to do with 'solving' this stuff pack but if people don't speak up and EA continues in this direction then they don't have a right to complain when it keeps going.

Whether you think its worth posting negatively or not, did you ever think people with a negative viewpoint might think its worthless to post positive viewpoints but you don't see anyone jumping into threads to tell people to stop posting negative threads. If EA had given us a shop to sell sweets, if this had been to appeal to young Sims, children’s rooms, toddler and children clothes I may have considered it. But the fact that it revolves around Katy Perry and has not-so-children appropriate themes, I’d take cars over this any day.

I also agree that I never thought Fast Lane was targeted only to guys. Some of the 1930's inspired cars and furniture were sort of feminine in a good way. Not girly. It also had plenty of clothes and hair for both genders which was nice. I love the dresses and female outfits that came with Fast Lane too. I think quite a few females would be happy with the stuff in that pack. In fact, now that I think about it, I think FL has some of the nicest stuff they have given us in a SP so far. As well as having the most in quanity. Objects, hair, and clothes. Outdoor Living being second. Master Suit looks promising, but I dont have it yet to compare quality.

I agree with you both. I never saw FL as gender specific at all and am a bit insulted as a girl to be told that cars are not a girl thing. Many women have very strong opinions about cars and not just about the best soccer mom SUV! I though FL was one of the best balanced SP they put out between male/female clothing, hair and objects for furnishing for both genders. I never found the 'racing theme' too overbearing in a masculine way but really liked the fact that my male sims got some fair attention for a change.

FL also had 4 lifestyles which meant that you had something more to choose from then just one style. I think it helped that you were not just stuck with 'racing' but had the option of things from 'intrigue' or 'luxury' or 'rockability' to use in your worlds. I find something from that pack that fits in almost any home I build.

I had said this from the beginning of the whole KP revolution. Why does inspired have to be pink candy all from literally one segment of her life and one that does not seem to continue on with her later things. What about a nice balance between her stage props and home furnishings or several stage themes of props? I lived in southern California for several years as well. And, like you, that was one of the reasons why I loved Showtime. The town brings back memories. I just wanted to say, though, that they call it "Candyfornia" because that is what the candy world in Katy's California Gurls video is called, which is the world they based it off of. Katy is a native Californian, so that probably had something to do with the name. Apparently it was actually the brain child of the video's director, though:

I have read your post twice and if I am interpreting your meaning correctly, you are under the impression that the ice cream machine and the deep fryer are included in the Katy Perry Sweet Treats stuff pack.

Those 2 items, the ice cream machine and the deep fryer, are not part of the KPST stuff pack. They will be sold as part of a set/sets in the Sims 3 store.

That's a lot of good reasons, and probably some that those who are not buying it feel too. It would add to ST IF you have showtime but a lot of people don't It would add to showtime if the stage props in it could be used as stage props when you customize a stage but they can't be because they cannot make an SP where stuff works for EP's, only things that work for the base game. So they won't be in the customize stage prop area the way you suspect and so don't add much to showtime unless one imagines that all singers have homes decorated in candy.

None of that seems worth an extra $10 for the SP.

And as for the music - you are getting one KP song sung in simlish - not an album or tour or anything like that. And for many who even like her music, one simlish sung song of a hit they can hear everywhere in a language they speak its not something to be added to their KP collection, and even on the pop radio station for the radio in the game its just that one song. Well this looks like the third stuff pak I won't buy, I saw no need for master Suite, it just was not my play style, My sims don't live in underware, this ice cream and cupcake stuff is not my style of playing either. and if they offer a teen stuff pak, that will be number three, I don't play teens long, so that would not interest me. It would really have to be somethng in it that i can't do without for me to buy a teen stuff pak.

Winning a poll is no guarantee that it will be the 'next SP'. Winning a poll has never meant that although people seem to think it does against all evidence to the contrary.

Think of how many other polls certain things have 'won' but we did not see them until much later then the 'next EP, SP or store set'. Look at the Ice cream maker and fried ice cream - those won the poll almost a year ago and for 2 months we heard how they would be 'next' in the store because they won and only now they show up, long after most forgot they won.

There have been polls about SP's before too and so far the winner from 2 years ago has not shown up so either the winner was considered by EA not to be the best choice or we will see it eventually. The same goes for the most recent poll. It might be the next one but it could be the one after or the one after that - we have at least 3 more to go. Who knows, we will see it when we do or never see it. There is a good chance that the next SP was already planned to follow KPST long before the poll came out.
