Does anyone know if newer iMacs can run The Sims 2?

Hi! I'm sorry if this question is not Sims 3 related but I don't know where to ask questions for The Sims 2.

I'm interested in The Sims 2 because everyone seems to love it better than The Sims 3 but yeah before I buy the game, I want to make sure that my mid 2010 iMac can run the game without any sort of problems.

~~iMac info~~

Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3
Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4670
Software: Mac OS X 10.6.8

So, do you think it will run perfectly?

I think it will work, as long as you don't upgrade to Lion. Lion doesn't run PowerPC and I don't think Sims 2 will install on a Lion machine.
Of course I don't know how well it would run. I don't like Sims 2 at all, so I never got a Mac version for myself.

Bear in mind that the last two EPs don't exist for the Mac. Neither do most of the Stuff Packs.

Also, if you never had the game before, you may have some trouble finding it. And unlike the PC version, the Mac version hasn't gone down in price at all. I think it's something like $89.90 on Amazon, for just the base game.

A recent security update may prove a bit problematic:

http://www.macrumors.com/2012/02/03/snow-leopard-security-update-kills-powerpc-apps-using-rosetta/

I'll see if I can find my old TS2 disks and install it on my iMac running Snow Leopard - I'll let you know how it goes

Actually the sims 2 with Lion will work on a iMac. The first 3 EPs do not work with intel based iMacs, however the last 3 eps that are for the mac are compatible with intel based iMacs. I know this because I have a mid 2011 iMac with Lion and it has an i5 intel processor, which I've had the sims 2 and last 3 eps installed on it and they play great.

Does anyone know if newer iMacs can run The Sims 2?

I got my iMac in December, 2010. Recently, not liking the direction Sims 3 is going, I decided to heck with it, I was going to buy Sims 2 all over again (I didn't have the Mac when I bought it all the first time, so all my games are for Windows). I spent $50 on the game, and it is so laggy that I can't even play it. I also can't figure out how to install mods and custom content, which was something I loved with Sims 2. So I'm back to Sims 3 and dealing with the random crashes.
