Good morning to each of you,
Some of you may be aware of the GNOMELANDIA project created by our group just three weeks ago. Well, we are now ready for our next neighborhood. The theme? Summer of Love.

The following is a sign-up for families for our town. This time we are making the families first so we can more easily provide housing that meets the community's needs.

This list is a sign-up of families that might have been seen in the '60s as well as a few influential musicians, artists, writers, and political figures you may have heard of...

There will be no duplicate families, so they are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please read the posts before yours carefully to make sure your chosen family is still available. I will try to keep up with the list as much as possible, but I will be out most of the day, so keeping up will be a bit difficult. Please read the posts before yours carefully to make sure your choice is still open. Also, you will see some families have already been taken, as I opened this sign-up first to our Builders' Boulevard members. http://www.buildersboulevard.com

Please sign up below for the family you would most like to create. Please sign up for JUST ONE at this time. If there are more left at the end, I will allow people to take an extra. These families will be featured in the Summer of Love neighborhood, which will be built next week! For this reason, [u]I need sims by Monday night if at all possible[/u]. I would like to have the families ready for the builders who will build their home so the fam and lot can be uploaded together, with credit to the sim's creator, of course!

For the celebrities: Please look them up on the internet and try to create them as they looked in the '60s. I realize some hairstyles will present a small issue. Just do your best!

For the other families: Try to match the style suggested by the family description. [size=18]Lizajbee[/size] has helped me compile this list, and she suggested a few styles to try to include if you're stuck:

bell-bottom pants

tie-dyed

vests

dashikis (those kind of long tunics...)

peasant blouses

long, full skirts

head scarves

headbands

Everything that's in so far looks great! I know you are worried about the air family, fiery, but what a clever take. Where did that hat come from?

Is custom content allowed? I'm thinking about changing the shirtless with chain necklace top to everyday, and making another top where I edit out the long-sleeved shirt on the long sleeved shirt and vest top.

I haven't gotten any responses on my question about it, so I have no idea whether it will need to be downloaded separately from the sim, or whether downloading a sim wearing it will give it to you in-game. I could upload it on modthesims.info if need be, but it takes a couple of days for anything to go up there.

Hi, Debra.

We have been talking a little about the project on the Builders' Boulevard site (http://www.buildersboulevard.com). Basically, this will work like the Gnomelandia project about 3 weeks ago with a couple of (hopefully) improvements. On Tuesday evening, you will see a list of over 60 lots for sign-ups to build an entire 'hood themed in the '60s. These families will make up the community there. We are also looking for talented custom content designers to create some patterns for our use as well. These can be uploaded on objects in a lot so we can download them into our games. All creators will be credited.

I haven't done this kind of challenge before, but I think I get the idea. I'd like to create Harper Lee and Truman Capote if they have not been taken yet (it didn't look as if they had been).

So just clearing it up, the people are due tomorrow and then we will build homes for them next week? Do the same people who made the Sims for the challenge also get to make the lots?

I feel like something just isn't right. I know that I can't get hair that is anywhere near accurate, and I can't lower the brow further without getting the slider hack. Can I get a little constructive criticism?

Transcendental, Eyes look great! I've had problems not getting eyebrows low enough ,too. I wonder if change something in the head settings could help with that? Haven't tried it. The only other thing I would maybe try is making the upper lip a little skinnier and the mouth a teeeeeny bit wider. I also like Mmyoko's suggestions of "more smiley," maybe corners up a little?

Mmyoko, yes, we will be housing them all. As far as preference for those who created the sim, I haven't decided yet...

Good job, but you should change his hair color and lighten his skin a bit. Malcolm X was a red head and was fairly light skinned since he was part white.

Hmmm, I think the nose wider and the tip more pointed down

mouth more kissable (omg jim morrisson was so hot **swooooon***) like pointier at the top lip

cheekbones/jaw line more defined

Great job so far though! I know the hair gave me problems too but you did a good job on his eyes and such, just a bit more definition that's all.

thankyou kit10. the only thing i am not happy about is his chin. his actual chin is cleft but in TS3 you can't create a cleft chin like TS2. frustrating . oh well

Here's a bohemian hippie family. Heavy on outdoorsy, artistic, musical, and "free love" traits Willow and Phoenix Heartwood are the grandparents. Raine Heartwood and his partner Starshine Sky have a son named Juniper Sky. Daydream Heartwood is a teen and is meant to be Raine's sister, but it wouldn't let me make the relationship in CAS. Apparantly elders can't have teen children- who knew?

After several hours of vicious Googling and extreme Wikipedia searching, I finally finished my Mamas and Papas. Now every photo of them looked different, and every description of them was different to the last I read.

So I decided I'd just go ahead and make The Mamas and The Papas the way I wanted to - they are basically the same except for a few facial features and personalities, they have the same names but I thought I'd just go ahead and make up their traits and looks - who knew it was so hard to find information on a 60's rock band!?

Instead of having them all bright and sparkly stand-out-of-the-crowders, I decided to go with a natural kind of look. Just everyday people out enjoying the Summer of Love.

YEY just finished my family! I also finished writing their individual bios, so now I have to upload them + make a story. They are quite cute and have lots of room to grow I think, well the children especially ((one wants to be a cult leader))

I think I've answered the questions that have come up. So many great sims since I left yesterday! Really proud of your work. I'm going to be rec'ing them all tonight. It's OK. Hmm. Suggestions for your forum. I think I would try something with a different format. A sort of "niche." For example, Queeniehannah started a group for team building. Madison started a group for interior decorators to recruit architects and vice versa. My group focuses more on a story or neighborhood creation. If I think of an idea that I think might work, I'll let you know. But that would be my biggest suggestion. And try for awhile. One interested person soon becomes three, and so forth.

I checked out your Top Model competition. I love how you've organized it and it seems like you have some great entries already! I saw that the three judges would have a commitment for about half the year. Unfortunately, with my schedule coming this fall (probably the busiest of my teaching career so far), I am afraid to sign up for anything more Sims-related. If I do something, I want to do it all the way and do it well. I am already worried about my ability to keep Build-n-Share going at its current level once school starts, and I am afraid I wouldn't be able to give your challenge all that it clearly will deserve. However, if you would like to plug it on the Builders' Boulevard site (www.buildersboulevard.com) in our General Forum section or Help area, you would be more than welcome. This would also give you the opportunity to PM a few of our members whom you think might be interested. Two people I would recommend as good judges of sims (and way more talented in that area than I am!) are Kayllisti and Fieryfemale. Both are very talented creators, known names on the boards, and are great at providing positive feedback. Best of luck on the challenge. I may poke my head in from time to time to comment. I'm interested to see how it turns out!

I finally got a chance to make Bob. I don't know how well I did...I'm not very good at making Sims. But it was worth a try.

Icraw, Robodl uploaded an MLK but wasn't the first to request it. However, if Heyhey's isn't in by tonight, I'll be checking with him to make sure it is OK to use his.

I don't have who signed up for Swami S. I tried searching for him on the Exchange, but no luck. I think I lost a few updates on the list when I merged our two lists, so I don't know if it got lost in the shuffle then. Hopefully whomever created it will be back and let me know.

I made Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young because I have a very odd obsession with David Crosby. Very wierd, I know! I don't want to provide a link though till I am absolutly sure that no one else wants a shot....

With the exception of Crosby and Nash's hair, they were actually pretty easy to do! Someone should give it a shot....

you turn in your chair and say wooooooo aaaaaaaaa woooooo nanooo nanooooo

then after you clisk on the "edit town" button you can slick on "save as" and there is your new neighbor hood. when you start the game select your new "neighborhood" and theres you go.

your veterans house is still being being messed with. i cant figure out what to do with the kitchen. ill see if i get accepted for my upload at this other site.
