I just wanted to announce that I am going to be making a Legacy Challenge for TS3. in fact it is currently in the writing and play testing phases at the moment.

I should have the rules posted within the next week or two.

As to what it will contain, I'm going to keep most of it a secret. If you are familiar with my Legacy Challenge for TS2 you'll be familiar with the theme and feel of the challenge, but there are some distinctly new aspects added to it (and quite a few bulky, annoying and cumbersome aspects stripped away too).

I kind of already started a legacy... ish. I never used the money cheat, or any cheat. I didn't start on an empty lot because I didn't know how, but I moved them to an empty lot. My sims are married with a kid and another on the way.

Part of the challenge is to hit generation 10 in the first place. If the line is broken, the challenge fails.

But the Sims 2 Legacy had all sorts of semi arbitrary rules along the way. Like "Collect one of each ghost", "Roll a die to choose aspiration", "Collect one of each supernatural", "Buy but don't use as many Exlir of Life as you can, get 1 point per 25" and so on. Considering that Sims 3 is almost made for legacy style play, this could get interesting pretty fast. For each bonus objective you complete, you get a number of points. At the end of the challenge, tally up your points.

I'd be really interested to see what new things you add and how the different gameplay features of TS3 work in a legacy. Also I love how you could have the whole neighbourhood just plod through ten generations with you while you just play the one family...it'd be nice to see other things change with you while you can still concentrate on your family goals.

I didnt find out about the Legacy Challnge until OFB, and by then there was sooo much to get done that it was overwhelming, it will be nice to start one with a clean new game, and fresh new rules. Hopefully it will be a good long, but no too long, while before they come out with a EP.

That sounds about right. That would mean that each sim would have to be very happy at least one time when they age, so that you can pick their trait and not get stuck with a random trait.

One of the major complaints about the extended Legacy Challege was how complicated it became to keep track of all the points, side challenges, handicaps, side rules and what have you.

My primary goal for this version of the challenge is to keep as much of the versitility and options of the previous legacy Challenge while stripping away the cumbersome add-ons. What will remain will hopefully be much easier to score and keep track of. While it may be handy to have some scratch paper and a pencil to keep track of your challenge and point totals, my goal is to not require you to use Microsoft Access or Excel to keep track of said points.

On a completely seperate note, I've recently moved into a new house IRL in NY AND due to some silliness on my part involving Service Pack 3 and an out-of-date BIOS, borked my computer temporarily. It should be fixed soon, but needless to say, I have not had as much playtesting time as I would like. To wet everyone's apptites further, here is another little tidbit from the challenge (subject to change in the final version):

Your founder in this challenge, like your founder in the original challenge, is fully free to be created however you want. male, female; fat, thin; adult or young adult and more. You have rree reign to use any custom styles, clothing, skin tones/colors and whatnot to create your ideal looking founder. Items purchased from the Sim Store are fully allowed. Further, you get to hand pick all 5 traits of your founder, as well as their favorite music, food and color.

The future heirs and spares will not be so lucky...

I love it that there's a randomize button when you're given the choice of traits for the sims aging up. I already hit that button everytime so that I don't get stuck using the most advantageous traits all the time. I'm loving discovering new things!

Ahhh, nice idea with the names! I use US states or state capitals! (Surname is usually Legacy, State or Capital).

Actually, earlier I printed out a list of all the states, cut them into individual names, separated them equally into male/female categories, folded all the pieces of paper so I can't tell which is which and put the females into one pot and males into another. Then I will pick them randomly as and when a sim is born!

I am definitly a "need a goal" player, already on 2nd almost 3rd generation using basic concepts from ts2 version. And yep I've been hitting random when I get to choose a trait.

I am particularly fond of your apocalypse. I went so far as to create flash cards with all the info, jobs on one side with hours skills required etc, and rules tied to it on the other side. I have a little card box on my desk with all my apoco flash cards in it. I even glued the little icons for the aspirations to my dice for random rolls rofl.

I just wanted to announce that I am going to be making a Legacy Challenge for TS3. in fact it is currently in the writing and play testing phases at the moment.

I should have the rules posted within the next week or two.

As to what it will contain, I'm going to keep most of it a secret. If you are familiar with my Legacy Challenge for TS2 you'll be familiar with the theme and feel of the challenge, but there are some distinctly new aspects added to it (and quite a few bulky, annoying and cumbersome aspects stripped away too).

Same here. Even though I've been playing the Sims since the first game came out, I've never done anything serious like this so I'm excited to see if I can! I have been anxiously awaiting this since I first got the game. Legacy is my favorite way to play even though I've never shared my game or results before, even without necessarily keeping score it gave me something to shoot for and made me stay true to my playing.

Mostly all things will give you points.
Completed lifetimewants, getting a lvl 10 job, having a baby boy.
Also you could get points for different graves / ghosts you had on your lot.
Etc, etc.
It was a little bit complicated at the end But really really fun

Edit: The fun was to get through all generations, without using cheats, and getting the highest score

There are several sets of really good rules over at boolprop.com A lot of time and thought went into them and they play pretty well.

You can't blame pinstar for getting excited about the new game and wanting to work on that instead of backtracking to the nightmare that is the apocalypse lol. (keep in mind I'm an apoca nut soo I'm not knockin it!) I spent an entire month trying to do an adult start with different jobs. By the time apartment came out I was bored and ready for #3 so I say BRING IT ON!

The Apocalypse Challenge will be the next thing I look to update once the new Legacy Challenge is properly play tested, updated and published. That being said, I make no promises that it will actually be updated at all. I may have to make it a completely different challenge depending on how the mechanics work in partner with all the new game play mechanics of The Sims 3. Then again, it might carry over in very similar form the way that the Legacy Challenge is with the blessings of the new game mechanics.

Also keep in mind that the Apocalypse Challenge is one that plays better with a few expansion packs under the game's belt, so there is a very good chance that it may wait until TS3's first EP before seeing an official update.

Start off with a single sim.
No Cheats.
Can only marry NPCs (easy to do if you start a new game with only npcs in it)
Try to fullfill the lifetime wish of every sim in the family.
Not as extensive as the legacy challenge rules will be but its giving me some good practice at the new game format.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with for TS3 Legacy.

The legacy is certainly intimidating if you start with the rules for 5 or 6 expansions already involved lol. The trick is to start now or start with the base rules.. then as the legacy rules grow, you will be prepared for the "new stuff"

Its the main reason I already started a legacy - knowing it would force me to get to know the whole game. As soon as the new official rules are up, I'll start over and hopefully knock out a story but for now its just awesome practice!

Yeah, a person playing a true to the rules legacy will not be able to put up more than a wall and a few basic features at the beginning. I rather enjoy that myself and would love a camping ep later that would let me have my sims live outside anyway.

It's not easy and that's what makes it fun. Anyone who hasn't done one before should go to legacychallenge.com and read the basic rules to get an idea.

So I decided to make a start on my legacy sim while I waited for the rest of the rules.. But, once I bought the lot.. and attempted to make a house, I found I didnt even have enough money to make one D: So I'm curious.. do legacy sims have to start off living like a hobo on the streets?

You choose one heir each generation to stay on the lot you started with. The rest, you can do what you want with.

And for everyone saying they can't make a decent house...? My sim started out with $16,000 and I even bought the biggest lot so that I could eventually expand the house into a mansion with a large pool. I made his house, he had 4 rooms, a bed, a fridge, a tv, etc. the first night. The house looks great now with all the added rooms and they have $50,000 + in their bank account. Since you're wanting to do a by-the-book Legacy, I think you should probably wait for the full list of rules and points bonuses. I've played around with that massive lot to get the feel of playing the new game Legacy-style, but I also want to wait for the full rules and bonuses before starting for real.

You could let yourself have a little trial-run like that though. It'll give you a lot of ideas of how to get the money coming in real early.

There's just so much in this game! Bonuses and restrictions could be things we hadn't thought of ourselves--and it wouldn't be very nice to get a few generations in and then discover that a major rule had been broken

It's up to you, but I'm gonna wait. (hopefully not too too long...)



VERY IMPORTANT: what kinds of solutions are there for buggy lots? This has ended every one of my TS2 Legacies. It's really disappointing to lose all your work because the game just can't handle that many generations of the same lot before something borks. A hint for one of the new optional rules:

"Family Trait"

Your founder in this challenge, like your founder in the original challenge, is fully free to be created however you want. male, female; fat, thin; adult or young adult and more. You have rree reign to use any custom styles, clothing, skin tones/colors and whatnot to create your ideal looking founder. Items purchased from the Sim Store are fully allowed. Further, you get to hand pick all 5 traits of your founder, as well as their favorite music, food and color.

The future heirs and spares will not be so lucky...

One other quick clarification: In addition to all of the above listed customization options allowed for your Legacy founder, you are also allowed to pick their lifetime want.

Their lifetime wants will be tied to Legacy points now, so choose one you think you can complete to give yourself a little Legacy point boost early in the challenge.

Moving in:
While you are free to choose either standard town, there is a very specific lot that must be used. If you move into Riverview, you must move into “345 Riverblossom Hills Drive”. If you move into Sunset Valley, you will be moving into “15 Summer Hill Court”. The common thread between these two lots is that they are large, empty and cost $14,700. Yes I know that leaves you with only $1,300 in cash to build a house, that’s the point. All legacies start out with very humble beginnings and you should expect your founder to live like a hobo for awhile while you get your family on its financial feet. If additional neighborhoods are made available with mods or EPs, or we gain the ability to plop our own lots down, they may be used as well. As long as the lot in question is completely empty and costs at least $14,700, it is allowed to be used as the Legacy House.

I cannot wait to get started, I already have my founder that I want.
But I am currently playing the Sims 2, while I wait for all of the rules.

Heehee. I may be eager to play, but not many rules have been given.

Its amazing how happy your sim can be with so little. Every morning, my sim gets a moodlet and it says something about how great the house is. There is hardly nothing but the sim loves it.

When the sim needs something to do fun, I take her down to the library since she's a bookworm. Before I purchases the frig and stove, when she was hungry, she would go to the diner. Yeah, that requires money, but so does buying a frig and stove. My sim has remained happy. And she's recently taken a liking to her work partner Hank. Yeah, but I used a Sim I'm already playing on. I mean, in a new game, to play on that lot to see what it would be like when the whole rules come. And I got a bed, a toilet with wall, the cheapest floor-light, TV and a fridge. The fridge 'cause the quick meals are free. So the Sims can simply eat cereal when they're hungry, with juice if they're really hungry.

Both lots have the "Beautiful View" moodlet, and will surely provide a good solid mood boost for the entire family.

The fact that your founder starts with only $1,300 in the bank is universal to both lots. How you pull your founder out of poverty is entirely up to you. Fast tracking up a career, writing lots of books, finding and selling collectables... there are a huge number of ways to gain wealth. There are also a wide variety of ways to deal with the items your sim lacks.

I also thought of the "loves the outdoors" (in general I like that trait)
I'm considering "workaholic" (if I go with the strategy to gain money through careers) mostly because they get a positive moodlet from working.
I might consider a good social skill, maybe "charismatic" or "good sense of humor" which will make the friend-making easier, this to find a suitable (maybe rich) partner

What have you learned from the different career tests (love that kind of knowledge), anything interesting to share?

I too, think that Loves the Outdoors would be a good thing to start with... I also heard, and I've attempted it myself with her evil/klepto/computer whiz daughter, that you can hack lotsa money from going to a neighbors house and using a computer and pressing the hack simoleons button.

Her twin, Kona, has the good, loner, heavy-sleeper, and one other thing I can't remember traits. She's not nearly as entertaining as her sister, but she's way pretty so she's the heiress or whatever it's called.

Another question I'd like answered is what the rules are going to be on birthdays/aging up. Because it'd make things a lot quicker/easier to age them up early, since you can pretty much age them at any point in this game. Hrm, the bonus is for the actual skill though, not the trait, right? And I think the "social skill" originally mentioned was meant to be talking about traits (it gets a bit confusing. )

I'm thinking of going with the "Lucky" trait myself, not completely sure yet. And while the "Love the Outdoors" one would be nice for starting out, you've got to weigh that against whether it's useful enough to start that you're willing to give up another possible good and useful trait later down the road, since that trait won't help you when, for example, you're at work and need to keep your mood up to get promoted. (Assuming of course that you're picking your traits just for their usefulness to the challenge.)

I played up to the first age transition from young adult to adult and the start is quite hard.
I found wild growing grapes and potatos that I could use for food.
I read skill books at the library.
His lifetime want is to max writing and painting so got him a job as a paper boy.
I thought it was heaps of fun sleeping on park benches, showering at the pool change rooms, boosting fun on the park swings.
Hardest thing though was trying to get job performance up. I dont advise having loner as a trait as this makes you get a negative moodlet at work as there are too many people. In the early stages this made it quite hard. After Vita Moved In, she brought 6k + 4k from her Inventory.

Usually, I wouldn't rush things.. I let Sims slowly mature their Relationship.

I tend to agree with you on this. I think a nice rule would be that they cant marry until they reach adult hood. That gives you your young adult stage to stand on your own, nothing preventing you from building relationships ready for marriage though.

But in Sims 3 almost all playable sims are "rich." This is why I asked if there'll be a rule about only marrying NPC's (non-playable characters who do not have a home: mostly service sims, I think).

The tip about the number of traits is a good one, but not true. Two Firefighters in my game are both adults. One has only 2 traits and the other has 3. The best thing is to do the social friendly interaction "Ask About Career." Also, service sims seem to enjoy hanging out in the central park in the afternoons. I've seen burglars, pizza delivery people, firefighters, etc there in the afternoon. I haven't noticed any maids there, but they could be in their street clothes too. So ask about career

Plus the service sims often have the ability to pass on special hidden traits to offspring--which makes them even more fun to play with.

But I'm only speculating that it might be one of the rules--as there's been no official hint regarding this.


Also, the Apocalypse Challenge had the restriction that you could not move in any sim that would not be contributing to the next generation. (I don't remember if the Legacy had that or not, but it's a good rule!) I guess how easy this will be will depend so much on the time span given and whether you are allowed to move in very rich Sims who reside in the neighbourhood! lol!

I tried this out with a normal lifespan. I moved in my Sim's boss, as they had compatible traits. He only came with just over $2000. She was on the largest empty plot size in Riverview. They have struggled with money as the house has to be expanded to make room for their family. They live on the breadline! lol! They have not time to do anything but raise their family!

I spent most of her YA getting most of her gardening skills up but when she aged to Adult I had her get married or the challenge would have failed! Unfortunately the LTW of her spouse was to raise 5 children from babies to Teens, so I decided to go for it. It has been one of the hardest things I played in the game so far. They have 6 kids, it's chaos! He's about to turn Elder and she is only a few days away from Elder. I was hoping to get her gardening skills maxed but she didn't have anytime to do gardening once the family came along and not even time to go out of the house which gives negative moodlets! If she could have got her gardening skills maxed and had time to find some seeds it would have taken the pressure off.

I admit I have probably made the game harder by playing Riverview for the very first time, it may have been a different game if I had played the other neighbourhood as I know it so well after nearly a month of playing and know where to find stuff!

For me the skill building aspect of the game is taking far too long. Incidentally, once my sims2 families were wealthy, I grew tired of them quickly and never did complete a Legacy in that game. Now there are ways my sims can earn bigger bucks when I feel they need it, and otherwise, I can leave them with only their jobs as income (they don't get too wealthy that way, at least not on the 90 day lifespan setting, they would usually not reach the top of their career until they were already elders, so they'd die soon anyways )

I have only played on the long setting for a couple of days now, so I don't know yet if it's too long. I've played a family into the 3rd generation on normal mode and I'm currently playing a family into the third generation on long aging mode.... I have to say I like the long aging, it's long... particularily the toddler stage of growth but it's a pace that lets you sit back and really enjoy your sims and their personal relationships and even relationships within the family. playing on the long setting also seems to have mitigated some of the town problems of aging too quickly etc.

personally I feel that there's alot more fun in playing on long and I too will take the point penalty, if there is one, for having it on this setting. I never really got (properly) into challenges until late on Sims 2 and when I did it wasn't really the Legacy challenge that caught my attention. The whole play through 10 generations and add up points didn't really appeal much.

I enjoyed Apocalypse though (even though I never managed to finish it). It really was a challenge living with all the restrictions, etc. at first. So I'll look forward to that one being updated It will be interesting to see how it works this time around. It doesn't sound right lol.

She gotten really close to her partner Hank. Of course he has commitment issues. He moved in and immediately called and broke off his previous engagement. Because of his commitment issues, he hasn't proposed to Olivia yet. He won't even kiss her unless they are lying on the bed. The funny thing is, Olivia has had his child. They named him Gabrielle.

I had read another legacy where Hank was the father of the children. Those children were somewhat ugly. Luckily, Gabrielle took after his mother. He is a beautiful little boy. He's grown into a toddler now.

Hank still won't kiss Olivia. They are working on their relationship though. Oh.. when Hank moved in, he only brought a little over $1000 with him leaving most of his wealth with his ex. With both of them working in the law enforcement career, the money is pretty good. I was able to build a nursery when Gabrielle was born and subsequently was able to add on another bedroom for Olivia and Hank. They were sleeping in the living room, but the radio messed up and kept waking them up.

I would agree. I have actually been surprised to see how many people are unhappy with the story progression, and was confused that Sims being moved in and out of houses seemed to happen to everyone but me. The long setting does make sense, though, as it just slows everything down.

My Sim is currently living in a Two-Story House, Complete with Kitchen, Lounge, Master Bedroom, Bathroom, and Plenty of space for a Nursery.
My Sim is already married, and his wife is Currently Pregnant.

I tried this out with a normal lifespan. I moved in my Sim's boss, as they had compatible traits. He only came with just over $2000. She was on the largest empty plot size in Riverview. They have struggled with money as the house has to be expanded to make room for their family. They live on the breadline! lol! They have not time to do anything but raise their family!

I spent most of her YA getting most of her gardening skills up but when she aged to Adult I had her get married or the challenge would have failed! Unfortunately the LTW of her spouse was to raise 5 children from babies to Teens, so I decided to go for it. It has been one of the hardest things I played in the game so far. They have 6 kids, it's chaos! He's about to turn Elder and she is only a few days away from Elder. I was hoping to get her gardening skills maxed but she didn't have anytime to do gardening once the family came along and not even time to go out of the house which gives negative moodlets! If she could have got her gardening skills maxed and had time to find some seeds it would have taken the pressure off.

I admit I have probably made the game harder by playing Riverview for the very first time, it may have been a different game if I had played the other neighbourhood as I know it so well after nearly a month of playing and know where to find stuff!

In the Pandemics one, the founder and all of the heir s and spares will be named after pandemic diseases, or just really horrible diseases once I run out of offical pandemics (like Bubonic Plague and Influenza) and I'll use things like Ebola.

The same for the Hurricanes one, except they'll all be retired hurricane names. The founder will be Andrew if a guy, or Katrina ifI pick a female for this one.

Just a question though-Last night I decided that I was going to play legacy with my own non-points way, in Sunset Valley, but has discovered (at least to me) that unless your sim moves into the largest lot, which costs about $14,000, you can build a little house with all the amendities for under $10,000. I have a test legacy going on right now. My founder's romantic interest is the mailman, and he has five traits. So I'm not sure that the number of traits a sim has can accurately determine if they have a home or not...

I haven't had a klepto sim yet, so I'm not entirely sure how it works. If they just steal anything they want without direction from you, then it would be quite cool to let klepto sims steal stuff but not sell it on. That way you would have to find space for all the rubbish your sim steals, which could get quite fun. If you canchoose what they steal, on the other hand, it would be quite dull because you could just steal the best of everything.

All ten generations stay on the same lot. However, the only sim from each generation that has to live on the original lot is whichever child you choose to be your heir or heiress.

"Spares" can be moved out as soon as they're able and you can always kill off sims too. You can direct what room your Klepto steals from, but otherwise you don't know what they'll steal..I found a challenge, where you have to get all your money and food from stealing and mooching. It's rather fun! Even though Sims do have a tendency to steal lamps and armchairs/couches ^w^

She really likes her stuff, even though its all outdoors right now. No money to build walls yet. But she seems happy. I sent her to the gym to shower and use the bathroom. That seems to work out good. The beauty of this town is everything you need is actually in town. Books, computer, work out stuff, showers, toilets, etc.

You can. You just click on "Edit town", from there you can move in and out, merge and rip apart, families as you wish. I didn't like the male Sims either, so I did that

You will be allowed to add as many sims as you want to your Legacy Neighborhood. This includes CAS sims, as well as downloaded sims and occupied households. Do bear in mind that you won't be able to move in player-created sims...but your female sim could romance them and get preggers by them without moving them into the Legacy household. That will be allowed by the rules.

Keep in mind that when/if you do add sims to the neighborhood, you must never allow them to become the "active household" even for a moment. As of right now (which may change between now and when I post the rules tomorrow)
You may move in all sims into the Legacy Household except for the following:
Player-Made sims
Downloaded sims/households
Sims that had previously lived in the Legacy household but have since moved out
Pre-made sims that your sim identifies as "rich"

All other sims are fair game.
With some testing, I *may* allow player made sims whose traits have been randomized to be fair game, but don't quote me on that. I will test out the economics of that today.

I was fairly certain I was going to need to start over, but with the "Rich" limitation in place I definately will. My sim married his boss who was identified as Rich. : ) I moved her in and she brought over 4K to the family money. Hi Pinstar.
I have been practicing the legacy challenge on the Lots you specified in this thread, but I have a question about "moving in" a Sim living in the neighbourhood as a Spouse.

In my first try out I didn't have a problem when moving in my Sims boss, she waited until she had just turned Adult. He was living with an Elder but they had no children and he said he single just before they got engaged, he moved in no problem.

In the second try out using the same scenario the (single) boss this time when asked to get married and move in, the option to move his elder wife and a child came up! Now call me picky but I don't want a Sim that already has a child in the game to be part of my challenge! lol!

Third scenario same situation, the boss had just the one child, a baby and couldn't move in unless the child did too! So what are we suppose to do about that? lol!

It appears that babies/children/teens are being spawned all the time even with the story progression off! Is that the problem of why they are spawning I wonder? I assume we are suppose to have that feature off?

What can we do about this? Your Sim spends all their time wooing a future Spouse who says he is single and then you find out they come with a ready made family! lol!

The other concern I have is finding out if a Sim is rich. What constitutes rich? The one time I moved a Sim in he had $2000, not a lot but then he left the person he was living with behind so no house was sold. If the house had sold it may have been a lot more like $20-30,000. If we find out this information when asking them to move in are we suppose to just cancel it and find another Sim? That could be a whole lot of playing time with the clock ticking down and not really leaving enough time to continue with the challenge.

I have found that real NPC's like the Maid, Repairman etc are really slow to arrive on community lots. It took me a long time of playing to actually see one of these real NPC's turn up on a Community Lot and with limited time in playing the Legacy it may not be that easy to choose one of these characters in a brand new start game.

I love your legacy challenge and I know it's going to be great in the Sims 3 as it really does support this kind of a challenge.

Example number are 14 19 and 3, I add 14 and 19 then subtract 3. Then I count down and choose that trait.

I hope that we will be allowed to choose them if the game says it is allowed. Although…all of my Sims will be bookworms and family for sure so....anyway.

I am having a much easier time succeeding in legacy playing, so it will be interesting to see what the GREAT Pinstar will twist to make it harder.

I may not be right, but my impression is that this applies to when you talk to, say, one of the Landgraabs and the first thing your sim "discovers" is "So and so is rich!"

In the event that your sim doesn't discover the rich trait until you actually marry/move the sim in, then you can proceed with the marriage/move in without any rules being broken. From my playtesting experiance, the rich trait is one that is discovered VERY quickly, even without "friend" status or the observant perk.

Would having the awesomemod break any rules? I've looked at all the changes it makes to the game and as far as I can tell, it doesn't do anything to drastically alter the game experience. It mainly just stops parthenogenic babies from being randomly plopped into neighbourhoods and fixes the Story Progression toggle, along with a few small things, like making the sims whine and cry less when they're unhappy and stops them from smiling in CAS so you can actually create their mouths the way you want them.

While Lifetime Wishes are apparently based on Traits in CAS (which makes sense), if you have a child/teen Sim, the LTW as far as I can tell is based not on traits (or at least not wholly on them), but instead based on what the Sim's doing. Like I've had a couple Sim kids discover a star with a telescope, then have the "Astronaut" LTW pop up, while a teen I'm playing now is Atheltic/Brave/Good/Friendly, but is gardening a lot, and has had the "Creature/Robot Crossbreeder" LTW pop up twice so far, and no others. (Level 9 in Science career IIRC, which is gardening/fishing based, and as far as I can tell, has nothing to do with his traits).

So if you're wanting Lifetime Wishes to be at least somewhat random like the Lifetime Wants were in the previous challenge (from what I can see of the rules), that might be a bit challenging, since people can probably mostly steer their kids toward a certain LTW depending on what they do. :/

I thought the first founder I created was kind of boring, plus I realized that I had cheated by purchasing a home instead of the most expensive lot in the neighbourhood and building up my funds to actually build the house, so I scrapped her and that neighbourhood.

My new founder is Marylee Charm. She's a young blonde haired, blue eyed woman with the Snob, Hopeless Romantic, Flirty, Ambitious and Charismatic traits. She has big dreams of making it big in the entertainment industry and amassing fortune for herself. The only problem is that her ego runs away with her a lot and it takes a good hard slap in the face from life to make her remember that she's just another broke, single nobody in Sunset Valley... for now.

I can't really say, I've never used freewebs. I switched to wordpress recently after trying blogspot. I didn't like how blogspot kept inserting every picture I uploaded at the top of the page. Very frustrating!

Wordpress has some nice features...

[b]1.[/b] I personally don't think that you should put limitations on sims with the Kleptomaniac trait. You said yourself that there are a plethora of ways to earn money in the game, some are easier than others and that you should pick traits to help your sim get off on the right financial footing more quickly. It isn't guaranteed that they'll be multi-millionaires before they turn into fully grown adults. It's just one of those traits that happened to be useful for your sim to get a good head start. Why put limitations on that?

[b]2.[/b] I also don't think it's right to put limitations on items you find around town (i.e: rocks, rummaging through garbage, gems, insects, fish, etc,). The few items that are worth lots of money are extremely rare and if your sim happens to be lucky enough to find one or have the Lucky trait help them out, then good for them. They used a trait of theirs to help them climb the financial ladder which is the object of the beginning of the Legacy Challenge.

[b]1.[/b] I personally don't think that you should put limitations on sims with the Kleptomaniac trait. You said yourself that there are a plethora of ways to earn money in the game, some are easier than others and that you should pick traits to help your sim get off on the right financial footing more quickly. It isn't guaranteed that they'll be multi-millionaires before they turn into fully grown adults. It's just one of those traits that happened to be useful for your sim to get a good head start. Why put limitations on that?

[b]2.[/b] I also don't think it's right to put limitations on items you find around town (i.e: rocks, rummaging through garbage, gems, insects, fish, etc,). The few items that are worth lots of money are extremely rare and if your sim happens to be lucky enough to find one or have the Lucky trait help them out, then good for them. They used a trait of theirs to help them climb the financial ladder which is the object of the beginning of the Legacy Challenge.

I must say I find it quite silly that you are telling someone how to make HIS challenge. If you don't want it to be in your game then don't set limits on Kleptomania or Lucky and just deal. Remember, Pinstar is doing the rest of the community a favor by putting down some rules for us to follow. The game still belongs to each individual and can be played however YOU see fit. It isn't as if this is an EA challenge that will have prizes associated. It's just a fun way to set some goals in your game.

Also - all of you that think that 12:01 am Eastern Time means the rules should be up really should attempt to calm down. Pinstar is taking time from his personal schedule to do something once again ... for the community - relax. He'll get it finished when he feels it's done. 1. I'm not dictating to him that he HAS to do such and such. I'm just giving him an opinion on what I'd like to see included or excluded in the challenge. It's no different than telling EA what expansion you'd like to see come out first. I'm well aware that it's his challenge, but he made the challenge so that others can enjoy them. He even said himself that he wants to limit the number of limitations in the challenge and leave it as versatile as possible. I was just trying to help him with that by giving my opinion on some limitations he was considering.

2. My other post was not meant to be interpreted as a demand for the rules to be posted at exactly 12:00am EST today. I realize he has his own life outside of The Sims 3 and that his body has the same basic need for sleep as everyone else's body. My post was actually a compliment to Pinstar. I meant to imply that Pinstar's challenge is so well-known and so popular that the newest version compatible with The Sims 3 has so much support and excitement surrounding it that people are swarming his thread at this late hour, all buzzing excitedly for the rules. He should be flattered that he has so much support for something he's obviously been working very hard on and putting so much time and care into; I did not mean that the swarm gathered here means that he should post the rules NOW NOW NOW, seeing as how I'm not three years old.

The time issue has been proven to be a hardware issue and not the fault of EA. The way to fix it is by setting all your graphics to the lowest setting and then restarting your game. The speed options should work after that. It may be only marginally faster or much faster, depending on your system specs, but it is a hardware issue.

I had the same problem and lowering all my graphics settings fixed it.

The only problem with lowering your graphics settings when you play the Legacy Challenge is that you'll get lower-quality screenshots to share with your fellow simmers. So if you have the time problem, either deal with cruddy screenshot quality, or raise your graphics settings but be prepared to have a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG Legacy Challenge.

Pinstar, you have so many fans!! And for good reason. I started playing Legacy style soon after you created the original challenge, and times when I've played other ways for stories or whatever just were not as fun! I bet it's the same for thousands of other players around the world.
